Maybe we should also go further and check on what should the bare minimum security features a public vehicle should have that would reduce the chances of death/increase the chances of survival in case of an accident, since, at the end of the day, an accident could happen. Anybody investing in the sector wud be required to cough some extra cash at the initial but with time people would catch up. Maybe the govt would start off by investing in such and the private sector would slowly pick up. Instead of investing heavily on entertainment stuff like wifi, screens, dstvs, fancy seats etc which are more of a luxury, we can focus more on security and with time the rest will follow. Mechanical Engineers in the house, any suggestion? This could be the time to come up with such ideas...get funding...design such a vehicle...take it for stress tests and invite the whole world to see it work. Once the idea works in Kenya we can then export them to other countries too

I want to believe that the quality of steel used by bus bodybuilders is of very poor quality , the thickness of steel in millimeters has been reduced drastically by body builders and does not conform to industry standards. However You will find the same bus passing the motor vehicle inspection in Industrial Area and it is off to the roads. Add on corrupt traffic cops and reckless driving, all these contribute to loss of innocent lives. Bottom line is that Kenya thrives on corruption.

IMHO, We have lost this war against dangerous driving/"rogue driving". So long as the authorities don't punish the "small offenders" on our roads we will continue to pay the price when the magnitude is as huge as todays. I've witnessed many a drivers overtaking on the left on a single lane road (Nbi-Msa, Nbi-Nak-Naivasha-Ker-Ksm.... etc) so often that these drivers take it for "normal".

This is the unfortunate bus....One question, for a bus to change to this state within a maximum of two minutes, at what speed was the driver driving at??? I believe it must have been the formular one racing figures...

...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...

Transport by bus and coach is the
safest mode of road travel. However
every year, around 20,000 European
buses and coaches are involved in
crashes causing injury or death
producing 30,000 casualties, 150 of
whom die. ..
