I saw this feature yesterday by Judy Kosgei,it was touching. As woman its stressing enough when on your P's,what with the crazy Cramps and Pimples popping on your forehead and cheeks
Maybe its time we stopped the tunaomba serikali iingilie kati and assist the less privileged girls and help keep them in school, using cow hides, feathers and soil is not only uncomfortable but risky and can cause various infections.
a beer costs 200-450 depending on where you imbibe yours, one packet of pads cost eighty(one beer at least two packets). There are several foundations mobilizing guyz to donate pads ,you can contribute to one and help a girl stay in school

Rink:Citizen TV

My two cents

Have a charitable day

It was too shameful to watch the feature. Parents too have to take responsibility to ensure that can provide some basic necessities for their children poverty notwithstanding. We too have to be wary of the commercial interests who have an eye on the market and would like to portray hopelessness and the need for " serekali isaidie" and the need for easily available and alternative solutions.

Simple local solutions that can work for the poor should be encouraged too.

I wish they could air the feature after the prime time news just like NTV did with their "Stolen childhood" feature.
It was not fair to watch some of the makeshift pads while having supper with those people we "fear"...

That observation is really important.I wonder how much a factory for such would cost.Otherwise with these kind of things happening everyday somebody somewhere will always capitalise on our failures.Just like the jigger issue while i know its easier and cheaper to educate people on cleanliness than waiting for cures.

A nation that does not treat its Children and mothers fairly will always be judged harsh by history. Its too painful to watch features of how our children in some parts of the country are forced into early marriages, others have their bodies mutilated by parents and now we cannot afford basic hygiene for our Children. Some parents should be thrown into jail for Child neglect and forcefully "made not to have capacity to reproduce" and spare the county shame.

Just like as a nation we offer free primary education and now free laptops, every school going girl esp at Primary and Secondary level should be provided with sanitary towels at taxpayers cost. Such simple gestures will ensure all girls are enrolled in schools and we all appreciate our ladies.

Personally, my proudest shopping moment is when i get sent to buy them for my wife and i carry then with a lot of pride as a man.
