@Realtreaty @guru, on Scangroup, notice the "capacity boost" is via share swap arrangement and Scangroup will be issued additional shares to Cavendish. This deal is a dilution galore and is likely to result to a decline in Scangroup EPS. That, and looking at the chart below, leads to dislike of the counter at current price.

Consumerism, competition and politics. They all come back to advertising, marketing and PR.

Its a good business but its share is very pricey.

I think its a very profitable business in Africa.Whether is pricey or not,I can't say.Time will tell.

@symbols, do you just buy a good business at whatever the price?

It all depends on my conviction and the time I'm working with. For this specific counter I am betting on a bubble within marketing/advertising which in my opinion is just beginning.

Consumerism, competition and politics. Those three are developing in Africa. It still goes back to competition. If things are good or bad, advertising will still be there.I'm not concerned about dilution. What I am concerned about is the organization's ability to attract and retain the right people since this is all about the arts i.e. psychology, sociology, linguistics, artists and you can't imitate such with success. The digital arena is also a big threat. But if they can transfer not only money but knowledge, they will have an advantage.Time,if I wasn't in I wouldn't get in right now but after Bernanke's 'Septaper' I would be in a better position to talk about 2014.

I am adding Centum to the datum assuming that everyone is expecting strip dividend or large bonus after the elpse of non-dividend period. So capital gains for the same expected and is moving up from 20-25-30-38-44-50-55- up to a level of 120 with expectations that China companies may start joining well established companies to keep its foothold as in Angola.

Don't forget ARM & Bamburi because the infrastructure play in Kenya, EAC and the wider Eastern Africa region (S. Sudan & Ethiopia) is still being grossly underestimated...

I add ARM to the list even though it may look expensive simply for the same reason @Realtreaty added scangroup.... ARM is seriously boosting capacity and I also believe that is being underestimated!

I share the same sentiments. This decade has its own issues which are not being appreciated or anticipated.

I dont know what you meant by cheap, but here is my opinion on undervalued counters. Disclaimer: Do your own research and analysis before investing.
Energy - Kengen. 2013 has been a good year, abundant rainfall thus the dams have been operating to capacity.
Banks - Coop
Insurance - KENRE
Manu - ARM its possible ur late here
