At least she has gone back to the village unlike her people who chose to hang in slums even when they have nothing to do.

Such a sad state of affairs. I want to say that the government should step in but I am also wondering whether she invested any of her monetary awards. Or were they too little to make any kind of meaningful investment?

@Impunity, amend the heading. "Retires to the village" may imply ako makueni junction.

A serious indictment on how we (mis)handle our stars, in my opinion.
Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.

There is nothing wrong with the village.
The atmosphere is healing, fresh, there's reduced costs and pressure.

It's also very conducive for her recovery.

Also realise that her talent (if she is still physically/mentally fit), may be more appreciated in village among idle youths than in nbo.
All she needs is support from the local leaders to help her stand on her once feet again.

There's is this other kenyan female boxer -zarika? how's she fairing on and what keeps her going?
