I have landed there a few times and I have nothing to complain about. I expect its value to grow now that the 'siasa mabaya' that harmed the Eldoret economy have ended. I have since landed there twice, I cant complain! Portfolio: Sold You know you've made it when you get a parking space for your yatcht.

Reminds me of the thread on Isiolo airport Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.

I've used the facility a number of times. It's reasonably well designed and looked after.
Unfortunately, the place is underutilized, especially by passenger aircraft. Since the demise of Jetlink, they probably only handle six to eight flights daily.

I had a chat with UG Governor a couple of months ago and he said something that alot of people would be really surprised about Eldoret International 1) Eldoret Airport has not operated in full capacity because the government has shut down almost the entire international cargo due to allegation of tax evasion. Irrational, the gorvenor put it this way, "If your store is invaded by 2 rats do you close the entire store or do you kill the rats?" Those are Governor's words. 2) Eldoret Airport always face shortage of jet fuel because Kenya Pipeline Eldoret depot priority is to supply Entebe International and if there is some left they'll give it to Eldoret Airport. 3) Eldoret Airport is prefered by most international cargo Planes because it is cheaper, it saves about 1 hr of Jet fuel if they land in Eldoret than if they land in Nairobi, Eldoret is 1 hr closer to all the major international airport, in EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST and other Africa capitals. 4)

And how does it compare to Kisumu Airport in view of proximity of the 2? kisumu is 2 hours away, may be 1 and half if the roads were good, they don't need to compete. What impressed me was the modesty of the airport. Modest, yes. But safe in rainy weather. Just For your Information. I would rather land in Kisumu,be safe and use road to Eldoret. Eldoret is my home town. And I always think that this county thing can really work to our advantage if we could fully exploit that Airport. Being an Agricultural county, Mr. Mandago should really look into promoting horticultural and livestock farming here in Eldy. Passion fruits, flowers, Rabbits etc etc all for export and all leaving the country via Eldy Airport.
