I think by "abortion" they meant early pregnancy loss or pregnancies that do not get to 28 weeks (20 weeks in the developed world).

If they meant illegal/backstreet abortions, then the figure of 465000 is way too high.

Of illegal/backstreet abortions, then this is quite common in most towns and is clearly shown by the number of women coming to hospital with incomplete abortions.

When a woman wants the pregnancy to go full term and loses it they normally refer to it as a lost "baby". When a woman does not want the pregnancy to go full term - they refer to it as a "foetus" <-- very subjective right?

We keep claiming that we should save trees and Kill our children. Others have gone far to claim that animals have rights but not our babies? by any standard 465k lives per annum is a holocaust!! What can be done you may ask - it all starts with the church... stop preaching money and kingdom principles to business and money making. Preach values and change our culture. Use the money you have to start orphanages and sanctuary which give options to girls who don't want to raise babies to dump their children in. Let's create options for these misguided souls!
