I tend to differ because i had an issue with the year of reg vs manufacture recently when i was importing a car.KRA uses year of registration and KBS uses year of manufacture.I had imported a car reg in jan 2002 but the belts were showing 2001.KRA dint have an issue but KEBs had to verify physically on the seat belts.But thats my experience.....

thats true,I also imported a 2002 registered car,only to get at the port and the seatbelts are showing 2001. The car had bn manufactured in Oct 2001 but registered first in April 2002. Had to part with some sweet cash...better check twice.

Do all cars have the YOM indicated on the seat belts coz if not then I would like to know which models do indicate so that I avoid them.Over the weekend I received a vehicle

first registered in feb 2002.The agent did not have any issues with it at the port.The year of registartion is what makes sense i.e a car starts aging when it starts being used.The KEBS guys are jokers and the simple solution here would be to tell the guy in Japan to change the year 2001 seat belts and put 2002 ones.

its not really like the YOM of manufacture is indicated on the seat belt. the seat belt shows its year of manuf.
They argue like- why wud a 2002 car be fitted with a 2001 seat belt,atleast in my case thats what I was told..twas a subaru,dnt know which other vehicles have the same issue.
Btw I confirmed frm www.japan-partner.com,that indeed my car was a 2001 make.

Japanese car exporters are registered with a company called JUMVEA (Japan Used Motor Vehicle Exporters Association). Its some kind of assurance that if the company is registered then it is straight. You could google it and check to confirm their details.

Now this seats belt thing should not worry you if u know ur way in the port. If your exporter is sincere they should have told you this. Why pple bring 2001 cars reg 2002 is cause they r cheaper. So the savings u make at point of purchase unatoa kidogo kwa port.

I Imported frm PAPERA,now u and I know that papera is one of the few credible used car exporters in japan. The car was surely 2002 reg,but 2001 manuf.
So are you sayn papera werent sincere?
Nways,the car wasnt as cheap,lakini I have learnt smthn or two frm this.
And I dd know my way around port,thus nkalipa 'KK' eh eh
