People need to learn including the learned Kenyans who throw waste out of their speeding car windows not caring what will happen to them....

Hapana, in so long as the people who live along Thika road have contributed to the problem....the drainage design wasn't just right!!!! ..."Wewe ni mtu mdogo sana....na mwenye amekuandika pia ni mtu mdogo sana!".

Meduza wrote:Who maintained the drainage after the chinese left? NO-ONE...sooo I read somewhere it will cost aus 200M a year to maintain the road.. Sema Cash cow.. adding to this fundamental 'flows'.The highway has its problems e.g the narrowing at Pangani as you approach the CBD. Last we complained about the floods.. somebody here in Wazua told us the rains then were unprecedented and heavy. Well... my dear taxpayers, that road floods even when just 2 boys, those from mathare who take a dip on the river as a holiday passtime, take a pee on the road as they bask before plunging in for another round..

How long does it take to completely clog 6 inch drainage holes? 2 weeks perhaps? Even a single piece of plastic does it. Now, how do u design a huge road that obviously collects so much water in no time with a few tiny easily clogged drain holes? Jinga designer. TULIA.........UFUNZWE!

If there is a section of that road that is constantly maintained... its that Utalii section.. its swept every month i believe.. The problem is the design.. my take 1. determined drainage using very little rain data.. hence small culverts 2. the road is not curved well enough from the centre-line such that water flows to the drainage. 3. drainage holes design.. too small.. ?

TINY HOLES. Flooding was due to poorly thought out holes. Just check them out. They should have been much larger. The result? Water collected over a huge area flows to the dips n takes too long to flow through the panya holes to the relatively good drainage trenches. Worse, even a piece of hay n a little silt Clogs them.
