Pan African Insurance bought a 3.59 per cent stake in Family Bank.It investing Sh310 million to buy 10 million shares in the lender during the December rights issue,acquiring the minority stake.
Family Bank then issued a bonus share issue of 1:1 according to disclosures in the 2012 annual report

The bank’s net profit stood at Sh496.5 million in the six months to June, representing a 141 per cent growth over the Sh206 million earned a year earlier.
