Quote:Embedded value is a conservative measure of the insurer's value in the sense that it only considers future profits from existing policies and so ignores the possibility that the insurer may sell new policies in future. It also excludes goodwill. As a result the insurer is worth more than its EV. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embedded_value rather whats the P/NAV of this thing?

Frankly speaking, these guys did not do any business during the 6 months. It's like they decided to sit back and run off the bad policies that they wrote in previous periods going by the significant decline in insurance liabilities. @xxxxx, Panafric indicated that 1H12 premiums included a 1.4bn bulk annuity. Excluding the 1.4 bulk annuity in 1H12 Gross Written Premium grew 16.67%y/y which is good.

i believe this presents a buy in opportunity for sanlam before the price shoots up post full year profits....all in all i see Sanlam buying out the smaller investors in the medium term pending insurance act ammendmented in sept; while i acknowledge that the insurance business went down, other unlisted portfolios including runda phase 3 that is starting in H2 2013 shall lift this share towards ksh 100 by announcement of end of year 2013.dividend shall be at least 5 bob considering we got 3 bob this year....
All in all time to buy more stock awaiting the juicy returns in the medium term. what sayeth thee in wazua?
