@ Thanks alfa
@Magigi,Islam doe not supress women. I advised you to read the Quran, you will realise that there is a whole chapter on a woman's rights. For example,in Kenya, muslim ladies go to school, work like others. I think you don't understand what you are saying,Can you come out well?

@Alfa: I hve lived among Muslim communities and therefore know what I am talking about. Muslim women are mistreated. Take the case of Amina Lawal from Nigeria who was sentenced to death because of conceiving outside marriage. The man responsible did not feature even in the discussion. What is that if not suppression. There are so many other cases that have been reported. Somali fighters stone 'rape victim' http://english.aljazeera...008111201216476354.html
What a primitive act, barbaric to be precise. Doesnt your Islm teach compassion and forgiveness!!!

@reiner,religion is way of life. Congrats. Do the right thing all the time.
I want to believe that SK community is a learned community.
People who do not use myths, ignorance and press stories to make their arguments.
People who will use their knowledge to decide.
All of us are born in a family with religion.
We do not have choice to choose when we are children.
But when we grow up,we interact,we 'read' (reading here means studying books, trees, sky,in soil, under water, people etc).
And this is where the disfference betwween informed and blind decision comes in.
@eli,@sonofgod,@magigi,I want you to learn first. What you've heard may be allegations.
Conceiving outside marriage is not freedom to you, right?
@tutu,@majimaji,@mainat I can see you like to read a lot.
Please explore more. Read about the various religions.
Your reasoning will be more productive.

@Alphdoti: 'Conceiving outside marriage is not freedom to you, right?' It is not for you to judge and carry out the sentence if this happens. Stoning somebody is testimony enough of how barbaric a religion can be. In any civilised society there is freedom of choice and this one of them, whether a sin or not. I guess you have read the Bible. The story of Jesus and the prostitute is a good example of how we should be forgiving. Jesus asked any of those who had not committed a sin as to be the first to throw the first stone at the prostitute. I try to imagine the guy who had slept with her last was near there holding the biggest stone, ready to pounce. what hypocrisy.

As I said, make sure you've learnt about something first before you comment about.
That way we benefit from each other intead of arguing for the sake of it.
Now,what @reiner asked is not what people did in which country.
Or what pastors did in which church to which women...
What we need to discuss here is the basics of relision.
Do you know the Christianity believes?
Do you know the Islamic believe?
Do you know where the difference is?
So people, pick up one basic of the religion and discuss it.
Let's not lash each other with argument, but rather have intelligent discussion.

@Magigi
Yes our Quran is full of compassion and non of this X-rated material, like the one below.
Women's vaginas taste like 'wine' (Song of Songs 7:1-4,8-9)
And @ All
Houris are mentioned even in Jewish Talmud. Though I havent heard even one so called civilized soul critizing Jew. Here is the verse
Garden on Eden has two gates of ruby,by which stand SIXTY varieties of pure servants. The luster of the face of each of them glistens like the splendor of the firmament. When a righteous man arrives, they remove his clothes in which he had been buried..' (Yalkut Shimoni,Beres*** 20)
We can draw lessons from the past, but we cannot live in it.

Let's maintain a sober conversation...
@rassa - Sincerely? Your last post has all the hallmarks of a virtual verbal suicide bomb...red fontsize 34 bold text while throwing the female anatomy in our faces during a 'godly' discussion....eeeeewwww! Respect the ladies in this forum.
Hata kama you feel you have a point, you are not helping your case...
Communicate my friend...communicate!

@Reiner,you know you are doing as God requires of you.
I say this because you believe in the following, which are actually basics of belief:
Faith in the unity of God - many people call him Mungu/God/Ngai/Cheptalel/Nyasae/Allah etc
Faith in angels - you know them, these are the good spirits. Of course there're bad spirits like Satan.
Faith in prophets - Adam,Noah,Abraham,Moses,Solomon,John,Jesus and Mohammed
Faith in books of revelation - Torah Scrolls (old testament),Gospel and Quran.
Faith in an afterlife - judgment day, when Jesus comes back.
So,people,are we practicing this?

@Rassa: You see, just like the whole lot of you,you are already screaming and cursing and probably BAYING for my blood. Like minded people did land planes on World trade center on 9/11 in the name of Allah.Do you call that compassion? Why is it that you can't take criticism without invoking death? You condemned Salman Rushdie (Satanic Verses) to a life of misery after expressing his views on your religion. Where is the freedom?
