What is religion? God does not require us to be religious! He requires that we have a relationship with Him!

Why is it that we are told in the judgement,when the sheep are seperated from the goats,that He will say unto them 'I never KNEW you,depart from me,ye that work iniquity'.

I am convinced that whether you call yourself a Muslim or a Christian (which nowadays is just a label),you need to realise the centrality of Jesus/ Issa Al Masih. By the way,I encourage all Muslims to read deeply in the Quran regarding the claims of the Quaran regarding Issa Al Massih. You will be SHOCKED.... Some of the claims the Quaran makes are contrary to what your Imam would have you believe. I will look for the references and post them here.

What I see from most of the posts in this discussion,is that many people actually believe that their works/ performance will land them in heaven. You are not aware that God,in Isaiah 64:4-9,says that your righteousness to Him is like filthy rags. In Romans 3:23,we are further told that ALL HAVE SINNED and fall short of the glory of God. This includes all the people you perceive as being infallible.

But there is hope! We are told in Ephesians 2:8-9 that:

It is by grace you have been saved,and this not of yourselves,it is the gift of God. NOT BY WORKS,so that NO MAN CAN BOAST.

If you could save yourselves by your good works (bowing 5 times a day,giving to the poor,attending church every Sunday) then it would be something to boast about! But God is not interested in your so called performance,because many of us do all these things and yet our hearts are far from Him! I have watched many Christians and Muslims adhere to set rules and regulations,yet their hearts are indeed far from HIM.

As @ansazi has said,being religious without having a relationship with your creator is useless.

All along I have been trying to address @reiner's concerns.

Which is if I'm not wring,she is asking whether she's choosing the right vessel to travel on.



Religion is like a control. Just like the way clock control the operation of a computer.

Without the control a computer cannot function at all.

See,when we pray for example,we are reminded of our God.

That's when we reflect back to our hearts,actions,thoughts etc.

That's when we repent if we had erred.



Since we are sharing knowledge here,can we handle one thing at a time?

The Judaism,Christianity and Islam have full agreement over the fact that polytheism is condemned.

Why do some people call any one god other than the Almighty God?

Allah is Arabic name.

We have african names as well.

Infact many people call Him baba,father,mungu etc.

All I know is in Arabic,Allah means literally the one God.

I know it is easy for you to understand that different languages give the same thing different names.

I have not read the whole quran to confirm if such punishment is advocated.

Arabs were pagans before Islam and therefore basically polytheists.If there is any monotheism in Islam,it only came after Arabs heard about it from the Catholics of Babylon and Jews of Israel........While at it,take time and do some reading here.Quite a lengthy article but an eye opener..................Happy reading.
