Credit Card like any other overdraft facility is a borrowing. Why do you need this 'loan'? How much is your income (say monthly)? How much do you want to take as Credit Card limit?

Please try answering these questions as honestly as possible.

None.....if you can live without one the better. I do not operate one myself and i pray i never will.

use bbk but the day you are late repaying... you will see two digits turning to a roller coaster.Of course you need to appreciate the usual fees.

Nakumatt will an extra shilling from you

Credit cards are good ONLY IF

1.you live within your means

2.Use them ONLY during dire emergencies e.g. your salary is late and your landlord is about to auction your belongings.Or had an accident and had no other cash available for hospital deposit if you are not covered.

3.Leave them at home(never shop with them use debit card instead).

4.REPAY all debts on or before there due dates.

If you are looking at Barclay card,be ready for a call at midnight reminding you that your due date is approaching. This ia good in someways as it helps you get the money to repay to do away with the haunting debt.

I've owned one for some time after being convinced by a salesperson. It's due to expire next month and I'm never renewing unless the terms are renegotiated. Is it just me or does anyone else feel the annual subscription fee of over KES 3,000 is way exhorbitant and exploitative? As if the high interest rates are not enough...

Page 31 of the sunday nation screams 'Here is where credit cards won’t work'

http://www.nation.co.ke/...8/-/xukh3f/-/index.html

I think that these banks need to know one thing, a credit card is not just any other card to fill in an empty space in the wallet. Besides there are some outlets just accept Cards and not cash.

So, for a bank to issue you with a credit card and expect you to notify them when you travel out of the country is rather ridiculous....what if you have to change your route because of the Iceland volcanic ash. It is an embarrassment when you learn that your card has been blocked at the till. If these banks are concerned about security then the first thing they should do is forget about this outdated method of swiping and signing for a transaction and instead the use of a keying in the pin. I say this because once a fraudulent person uses your card once its swiped the transaction is complete unlike when you have to key in a PIN.

For online transactions it is your responsibility to check whether the site is secure. That said, sometimes bad luck may come knocking your way and thugs take you to the ATM to withdraw money for them in which case you have no choice but comply BUT banks have to give their clients the space to enjoy the flexibility that they pay for to use their cards.

I have an interest in this topic because credit card is something i cannot do without. It has started with NIC bank... which other banks have adopted the same?
