@Metasploit;UBA has been in Kenya for 5 years and the kenyan subsidiary has never made a profit since its inception.
They even had a big plan of opening branches in major spots to compete with the other banks.
But with the hope of turning a profit fading away they stopped opening branches and currently they have only 4 branches i.e Westlands,NHIF,Industrial area and Mombasa.
Let's see if Guaranty Trust will be different.
Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation
Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

Banking sector records improved performance in second quarter 2013

Profitability
The banking sector profit before tax for the quarter ended June 2013 increased by 17.7 percent from Ksh. 28.2 billion in March 2013 quarter compared to Ksh. 33.2 billion for the quarter ending June 2013. On an annual basis, the profitability of the sector increased by 15.6 percent to Ksh. 61.5 billion from the Ksh. 53.2 billion registered in June 2012.

Outlook
The banking sector is expected to sustain its growth momentum on the backdrop of a stable macro-economic environment, domestic and regional expansion by banks and the increased economic activities through the devolved system of government.

If Equity grew its PBT by just below 18%, Hf about 60% [574mn which is not significant compared to the other financials figures],NBK grew by around 3%, BBK shrunk by 13%.Does this mean the remaining banks will have super H1 numbers?

Looks so. Especially Tier 2 banks kwasababu zilikuwa zimefinyiliwa sana na high interest rate regime kuliko Tier 1

The Tier 1 banks have been "sluggish". Maybe its time for @the deal and his Cfc bank to eat.
When is DTB & Coop announcing? By end of next week?

Fight club... Ex Banker vs Banker (HFCK) definitely will be a good fight. On test is the new property law touching on mortgage foreclosure. This case will be an interesting template for similar mortgage foreclosures. A tight rope for mortgage lenders...

True, BBK is losing big. And their services lately seem to be taking a beating too..

Member finally breakout of 36/- resistance level after 3 months of accumulation at 33 - 34 level. Extension levels 45 - 50. I expect this rally to overtake simba's.

The demand for Equity Bank is too strong and supply is drying up.....Ksh 40 may be surpassed as early as tomorrow. We may see Ksh 45 for equity bank if safaricom breaches the Ksh 10 price and KCB goes above Ksh 50.

Happy Hunting.
