Many have assumed that I have never assissted. I have had on occasion taken victims to hosputal and even went to bring in the police in another. But when the helpers try to snatch car keys from me, that is different. Stand on the high ground and point fingers all your want.

Also note: On a busy highway
The highway code: ensure your safety first.

You posted your scenario here and you did not expect to be judged??
We always worry so much about kids, probably the kid would not
Now you might have a chance to right the wrong, do not let it pass, for that is when you will start feeling better..

As I have indicated , help whenever you can as I did when I thought I could. I passed this time. Actually, as someone was grabbing at the key, therd were more people who were ready to assist. If it were on isolated road with fewre chances of better assistance, I would not have hesitated a moment longer. Calling out for help is also helping.

This is the parable of the Good Samaritan all over again.

Some of us are priests, some Levites and the others Samaritans.

"A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he travelled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion, came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the host, and said to him, 'Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.' Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbour to him who fell among the robbers?"
Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

@thuks, no one can tell you what you ought to have done in this case. What we can speak about are the motives of your action - fear.

Don't be nettled by what we say, all of us act under nothing but fear. What do you fear? That is what you worship.

@Thuks the guilt is definitely eating you up.....your selfishness is not unique though...I remember once scolding my brother for helping a guy who had been hit by a hit and run driver ....the guy died on the way to hospital ....and apparently hospitals dont take people who die on the way to the hospital without a police report....My brother was forced to take the corpse with the family members to the police where he left the body with the police....

Later I found myself feeling guilty for scolding my brother...he helped a guy who probably could have been saved by my brothers action.

From that day I swore to always help whenever I can ...I have actually rallied fellow passengers to force a matatu driver take an injured cyclist to the hospital.

So @thuks your behavior is inexcusable and Inhumane just like I was b4 I repented Pray .

Like @tassia said...
a mat is more likely to help take an accident victim, whomever they are; than most of us here would.

The stats posted on the accidents thread would be different if we were willing to assist victims

Its sooo sad and traumatising to see pedestrians carrying a victim of an accident, trying to put them in someones car for help to the nearest care centre fast...

and all the personals hurriedly locking up all doors and windows and even drive off fast off road... juu hatutaki kuandikisha statements, and appear in court etc etc etc.

when the call comes, am always at the ready.

You make sense but you also like making huge leaps in logic.

Met some today at 8 pm as i was coming from shags with a four yr old andd an almost full car. They wanted to force me to take a victim to a hospital. It is a busy road and i did not see the sense of squezzing an unconsciuos patient next to a child and risk traumatising a kid for life were anything to happen on the way. What would you have done?

If you were the unfortunate victim, what would be your thoughts?

Accidents involving mass casualties like the one in githurai everyone gets involved but whenever you approach an accident scene and other vehicles are also zooming by one also tends to hesitate ...

I would expect the person involved to be rational. Another victim as a result would not better my situation.
