Well,it touched 30 today... so will close out strong for the day... and there are buyers lined up at 29 (sellers want higher prices). Well, the NAV is still 42 so still trades at the huge discount.

Just saw a boatload of shares traded at 30. I guess it has sustainable power going into the close. Interesting was that there was no bid at 20 which means buyers are waiting on the sidelines snapping up offers as they come along.

A trade at 30.50 - this baby is on the way!

And SCOM is now at 4.60 - how long will it take before it hits Kshs 5.

Methinks SCOM wants the shares to hit 5,and lose quite a huge number of small owners who will sell at that price so that their big international investors can take over this stock.

@mvufanisi - Well... its not safaricom's fault if folks want to sell... I would say the locals should buy or hold on... I am going to do so...
*** Another is KQ... buyers are probably foreigners... like you said 30.50 is the new price... strong close into Friday...

Mlefu................I really have no idea what's driving this stock up?

Wow... today is KQ's day... +9.25% to 32.50. All sellers have disappeared... so what next?

- NAV is 42/- so there is still room to go.
- The hedges will be 'positive' since the the huge write-down in 2008-9 accounts. Even the 1H results were when oil was at $70 (currently at $78-$80).

More important than the hedge gains is the traffic... and I think the planes (local flights at least...) are flying almost full.

....KQ is burning fuel ceaselessly...forget ozone layer...and giving (rather recovering) the bills to the fuel hedge suckers. Can therefore rate airfares like busfare... say $46 to Kisangani,$300 to LDN etc!!! I'd say this is great...we can trade this stock using 'look back' style...

The $40s deals are marketing gimmicks... It created excitement & demand for new flights...

I am sure many Kenyans (I almost flew to Gaborone) took advantage just to check the new destination... and if they like Gaborone,Kisangani,etc... they may fly there again at the higher rate...

The 'cheap' offer excludes taxes... and probably creates more excitement than (expensive) full page ads would... or TV spots...

The UK fare is very restrictive & competes against the other airlines...

LOL... maybe it is time to cash in but IMHO... there is still 10/- left... the NAV = 42 & the traffic is busy on KQ...

32.50 and no sellers.
