As the country mourned the 80 dead, one of the train’s drivers was named as Francisco Jose Garzon Amo. It is claimed he posted a picture on Facebook in March 2012 of a train speedometer at 200kmh (124mph).
He allegedly boasted: “What a blast it would be to go parallel with the Guardia Civil (Spanish police) and go past them triggering the radar. Haha what a fine for Renfe (the Spanish train operator) haha."
The 52-year-old - who together with a second driver survived the crash and is being treated in hospital for minor injuries - is now reportedly under investigation. His Facebook page was today blocked.

El País also reported that sources from the train company Renfe said the driver of the train, Francisco José Garzón Amo, was not found to have alcohol in his system, but there were concerns that he might have been going too fast into the curve.

According to a translation of the report posted on the newspaper’s English-language section:

The Facebook profile of Garzón was deleted in the early hours of the morning. However, as soon as his identity became known, journalists and members of the public began to peruse it for information. Among Garzón’s posts on the social networking site was a photo, uploaded on March 8, 2012 by Garzón, featuring a speedometer with the needle at 200km/h.

Underneath the photo, some of Garzón’s contacts had left comments. “Dude, you’re going full speed, braaaaake” read one of the posts, to which Garzón answered: “I’m right on the limit, I can’t go any faster or they’ll give me fine.”

What was the radius of the curve?Using this info and the instatenous(spl.) speed from the black box we can get the centrifugal force which acted in the train at the time of accident.If the firce is below minimum threshold for tipping over then something else was responsible for the accident...it could be mechanical failure of one of the wheel/boggies for the carriage nxt to the engine...the engine was well past the bend when it was pulled down.!!!
