Thank you for bringing this up. I knew one day it would happen. People including myself become careless when banking money because of the assumed safety. It's very easy for the person next to you to exchange your envelope of cash.
Nowadays what I do is I walk in with a paper written all the details I need, transfer to the bank slip and only remove the cash at the counter.

BBI will solve it

The CCTV in bank halls are for the banks security NOT the customers.
The recorded images are just for review and CANNOT be used as evidence in court or even force anyone to accept a crime.

Yes you can carry slips home. I've done that severally!

Depositing in ATM I've done it once(cheque) with KCB, Kencom ATMS

for standard it's standard to deposit in the atm....

You are right, I noted that generally, I have been careless in the banking hall. From yesterdays experience, I believe the best policy is to have a mind that the banking hall has the same risks if not worse than any street in Nairobi, never answer or give any attention to anyone in the banking hall or if you have to answer, you give an answer that will make the one asking feel foolish. (In any case, why should a fellow customer ask me about filling a form? There are banks officials everywhere including the guards.)

I think these guys are taking advantage that in the past, it was normal that customers would ask for assistance from fellow customers. I believe in this age, if you do not know what to do in the banking hall, you should come with a friend or a relative to assist you.
