LAMINATING GOVT DOCUMENTS

Just heard a lawyer on one of the vernacular stations saying u shouldn't laminate Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Title Deeds etc. How true is that and is it illegal to do so?

Birth certificate - when you apply for a passport, at some stage in the process they stamp/ endorse your birth cert. lamination would make this impossible.

Documents with that gov't seal, like title deeds, log books, etc it also is not advisable to laminate the same, as well as other documents which may require to be endorsed huko nyuma e.g degree certificates. In fact some Indian varsities usually laminate their degree certs on whole of front page and half of back page for this purpose.

rightly put its not illegal except for a color scanned id card laminated and purpoted to be original thats illegal...
I mean its pretty obvious. If you laminate how can endorsements be done? But its not illegal to do so...
If you buy land and you are sure you will never sell it you can laminate the title deed...
