Kenya ina wenyewe!!

Mr Ted Majiwa, a resident in
Uzima gardens said he had
not even finalised payment
for his house and wondered
why the government holds
double standards on the
demolition.
This is because a house
belonging to a governor from
Central Kenya was not
marked neither was it in the
list of the houses to be
demolished.
Mr Njogu from the highways
authority clarified that the
house was not marked
because of a pending legal
issue in the court.
Said he: “There is a pending
legal issue and until it is
resolved the flats cannot be
demolished.”

The governer is Nderitu Gachagua and his too should be demolished cz ziko kwa road ya railway. Thy were marked a few yrs ago and he even started selling them faster faster to those who had no idea tht the houses were illegally built.
I think its high time the gvt demolises before he can sell to innocent Kenyans.

Just opposite the main gate into national housing estate ...but what amazes me is that there is a developer who started some construction just the other day! didn't he/she know that it was a road reserve after all the hullabaloo?

Just standing at the demolition site, I understand the guy building the flats has been advised since he started building not to do it but he tells kenha that its his plot he had bought it at 200mkshs and he has docs. Kenha even brought the mao showing its a reserve but the guy decided he owns nairobi and nobody will stop till when the bulldozer desceded on the flats and our kibra friends are carrying everything. Imagine lorries packed here carrying kokoto, sand and building stones, this guy will need a koolaid

200M is no small deal. It is sickening to watch the demolitions on TV. On one side people are crying as the demolitions are going on, others are carrying the weighing scale to buy the scarp metal and others are assisting the bulldozers with mattocks to finish the job faster faster. Kweli wakenya hawana huruma. The owner of those remaining flats may suffer a heart attack very very soon.

Those guys at the Lands Office should be at least merciful not to give out fake titles to genuine chaps. Its seems only in shags where titles are still worth the paper.

Gathige, the rot at Lands is so deep and old that it had become normal. The problem started many years ago and I have a classic story as an example.

In the 1970s one Mr. Githunguri wanted to build his Lilian Towers Hotel complex in Nairobi. He got the money, got the land and plans. He goes to City Council and city council tell him that the City by laws do not allow a building of that height at the location he has chosen and therefore his building plan cannot be approved. The guy sees that if he scales down his plans he will not get the kind of return on investment that he is looking for.

Having been Kenyatta's personal banker, he goes to Kenyatta for help. Kenyatta asks him what he needs. He says he needs a stamp of approval from City Council so he can build his hotel. Kenyatta rings the people at City Council and tells them to bring the stamp of approval to State House where the building plans for Lilian Towers are approved.

Mr Githunguri tells this story with a lot of pride and praise for Kenyatta in this documentary here from 27:17

It may well be that the law was a stupid one or was unreasonable but in my mind the floodgates had been opened. Any law that any friend of the president found to be an impediment to his progress could be circumvented. This started as a stream in Kenyattas government that grew into a mighty raging river in Moi's government. There was no attempt to change the law, it was just disregarded with impunity. If the president could not follow the law why should the Town clerk, city engineer, Lands Commissioner, District Commissioner etc. It was every man for himself to eat.

I think we have yet to see things. If they go ahead an implement that Ndungu report, watu watalia.
