Six months down the line and the Growth Enterprise Market Segment sector of the NSE is yet to lure companies to participate. What could be the problem?

Here's a list of my wish list.

1. DEVKI group of companies
2. Mabati rolling mills
3. Hass Petroleum

if they qualify

Am with you on expecting more … Home Afrika is a clear rip off and looking forward to better bargains listing in GEMs. The 3 you listed above are good candidates. May they list at a good bargain ;-)

This is going to be a Green Light for Real Estate Companies to beat a Path to the GEMS market.

I think There will be a Deluge of Listings.

NSE should not allow companies to list for the sake of listing...once the reputation of this GEMS is damaged it will be hard to convince investors otherwise.

NSE needs to list more companies for seasoned investors those who are risk averse should stick to the main segment. Greed is good...

Something like what? Are you forced to shop or do we introduce fish?

Does it matter? Does that make the business fraudulent?

BBI will solve it

GEMS will be the poster boy of the NSE. Potential for a multitude of companies to list.

All of these fellows are potential candidates.

GEMS provides both an exit avenue not to mention capital for expansion for investors in these SME's. If everything goes to plan, I reckon in 5 to 10 years GEMS will have more companies listed (read greater yielding investment opportunities for NSE investors) than at the Main Segment. Kudos CMA.

murchr, don't have figures but I think Devki and MRM are big companies and would not be candidates for listing at the GEMS. The Main Market Segment, I would imagine. Though their listing would definitely be a tantalising prospect for the NSE, I think these are one of those tightly held companies MAYBE not even intent on listing.

;-) The chap can probably even list now. His biz could be having the minimum KES 10M capital requirement which is the key here

KRA commissioner-general John Njiraini said on Wednesday the authority is implementing third-party data mining and physical mapping of small businesses across the country. The country has around nine million small and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs).
