This among other proposals are contained in the marriage bill.
This western "values" are ruining our society. A marriage in the African culture
is a union between two willing people [specifically of opposite sex] and if and when they feel they can't live together they end the union.
Under the 'western' system(s), it is like a prison term. The government plays a bigger role than the individuals in the marriage. Your spouse might even refuse to sign the divorce documents and if you go to court, you are told you have no valid reasons for divorce. You have to stay married because the government say so!!!
@MaichBlack did you say African culture marriage is between "two willing people"?
I think you are quoting the US law

I don't know which African culture that one.
Marriage is community affair in our African culture. The girl's father, the boy's father, or uncles, or aunties etc play a big role.
Even devorce is whole family affair. The old men have to sit down and hear the case, then vadict is passed.
I admire the African culture.I'm happy the Islamic marriage is still very orderly, and not polluted with Western thinking.
In fact, this bill is copied from Islamic Sharia. I'm serious!
In Islam- the boy or the girl propose
- you propose to parents, or brother if father dead, or uncle if father or brother dead etc
- the father will go and ask the girl if she would agree to the proposal
- in the meantime, you have to wait for an answer from the family
- during the waiting, no one else can come and propose, they'll be told we've another proposal which we're considering
- the answer can be YES ot NO.
- within this time, the girl cannot accept another proposal and the boy cannot go and propose to another girl.
I support this bill
