Hello Wazuans,

Obviously I'm a newbie, I came in here looking for business or investment ideas and from what I've read so far this a good place to start.
So I've saved up 700k over the years, and I need ideas on what I can do with it. Most Wazuans seem to reccommend Stocks and Unit Trusts/Bonds etc, thing is I'm a total newbie on this things. So if anyone can tell me just where to start...
I've worked so hard to save this amount and I'd hate to lose it due to lack of knowledge.
Any help please?
PS.I'm in full time employment and love my job so I'd like something that I can do on the side.
Thanks in advance y'all. I know this type of question has been asked 2367971 times on this forum alone but kindly help me too.

Vall...I dont know if there will be someone who will give you the best answer because, 1. the best investment is one which you understand and 2. you find very enjoyable doing.

Another thing, make sure you diversify, there is a wise old expression that says dont put all your eggs in one basket so if it was ME.. i would have a mix of land, stocks etc

Put the money in land and forget about it for about 3 years. You dont need to keep looking behibd your back every day. the only thing you have to ensure is that the process of buying the land is full proof - use of genuine lawyers

how old are you?
what stage in life are you,
you seem to love your job very much, why not invest in advancing your professional skills and put the rest of the cash in a retirement benefit program.

investopedia.com will teach you several things about investing in shares etc.
I would add abit of cash onto that and buy a canter to transport farm produce and other goods between various destination.( After assessing logistics and research.)
I would put that money in a Sacco then keep on contributing for 6 months and make sure I maintain a healthy bank account.
After 6 months I would borrow from the Sacco to buy an apartment with the apartment as collateral and rent it out to help me repay the sacco, a healthy bank account will be required as proof of capability of repayment.
Finally my colleague gave me an idea recently of buying plots with every penny I can spare. With time I would then sell off some of the plots after they have appreciated in value and use the money to develop others.

And dont forget the potential squatters if you buy & forget for 3 years!

I recommend you throw your money in the cheapest and largest blue chip shares eg KCB and forget for 3 years.. The management will protect & grow your cash for you!

In 3 years you would have made a killing just from dividends!!

@ newfarer: You really need to learn how to put things into perspective. For instance, this thread is about someone looking for investment ideas, so the appropriate response to the thread would be....? (Feel free to chime!)

In spite of that, let me humor you and feed your ego and hopefully give your pride a little boost - which from your statement, I can tell you need so bad:

I'm looking to raise the KES. 2M from a number of investors as opposed to one investor. That seems to be the logical thing to do, well until I gain investors' confidence anyway.

Now, to answer your question, despite the many leads I got on my post, not one of them has yet offered what matters the most: cold, hard cash.

Does that vindicate you, even a little bit?

@TNT how about coming up with an information memorandum but in a simplified version then you can send out to enquirers. Investors like looking at raw hard figures on how you have performed over the years, your projected growth your business model and the management before even doing due diligence and looking at your books

@ mkonomtupu: I've said time and again that that information is readily available to willing and able investors. Such investors only need to come to my office to look at it.
