Hi wana-sk. i'm looking for a good PDA. the PDA should serve in personal organising, surfing the net, reading digital books (many of them),among other basic functions. whereas smart phone are okay,i wish to have a separate phone so as to leave PDA once in a while. checked HP ipaq,PALM,HTC and ACER on net . on extreme,i can consider smart phone ( not iphone that has poor call reception )

Where are this thing sold in CBD? Checked in computer and electronics shops like EBRAHITS,MITSUMI,not in stocks. where are they sold?

IT professions and PDA users, kindly help.

Hy Junior,

I have used IPAQ 914c a while back.....nice PDA running Windows Mobile 6,but the screen was too small, irresponsive and finally battery issues!Sold it and got a Nokia symbian OS which aint a PDA.

I however sold a Samsung Omnia i900 to my boss last month and that thing is a marvel!I needed it for a project so when i was through sold it off. It has a large touch screen, runs WM 6,comes with 8GB inbuilt memory and good touch screen and surfing response where you can even surf youtube and sites with scrolling flash like SK.Battery is good also.

I would recommend it......Safaricom is selling it for 30,199Ksh.

If you want basics - try fonexpress (at most nakumatts) - ask for Imate Jama - its a decent pocket pc with WM5 and word, excel and powerpoint (for powerpoint its just a reader - the others you can create/edit/etc) GPRS for surfing, you can download and install many free apps incl the e-book reader and acrobat reader. Camera is crap though but generally a decent phone - going for 13k. Nice size, fairly good screen - if you turn the view 90 degrees,it will show as much as a blackberry curve. Touchscreen (and it comes with a spare stylus),Bluetooth 1.x,you can sync contacts, files, etc with your PC using a USB cable. Overall a fairly good pocket pc for that price. Very solid design. See specs and details here : http://www.gsmarena.com/i_mate_jama-2009.php

Junior,Imate Jama has bluetooth but not 2.0 (1.2 i think). No WiFi. See that link for the specs

Junior,

I also hadnt thought of Samusung but when i had that phone for a week i wouldnt think of any other for that price.Samsung Omnia i900 has Bluetooth 2.0,Wi-Fi,3G connection speeds,Opera touch browser with flv and flash enabled....u move pages with ur fingers coz the screen is so big. It has 8GB non-expandable inbuilt memory,3.2MP camera,WM6 OS,fm radio with rds......its so cool at 30k.Just do a search on youtube and watch a video.

When u finally settle on your smartphone or windows mobile I can hook you up with Kaspersky mobile antivirus for 2k; it will go a long way in making your device safe on the net,,,

thanks forthe responses. what other utility programs do i need to load in a PDA? For anti virus, not kaspersky? i have had it in the laptop and it does not detect some viruses. avira premium or eset will be my best choices.
