Have they ever really? It has always been my contention that whenever you see some of these consistent, often high profile and repeated crimes getting committed with no criminals getting apprehended, if you look closely, you'll find cops usually are on the take too.

That's why often times when some of these cases make it to court, the bungled investigations border on criminality. It'd be funny if it weren't so sad and serious. How often do we see eti thugs engaged in a 'shoot out' with cops and the thug who slips away is almost always the one with the (substantial amount of) money?
