I need your help guys

Does it make sense to buy Uchumi at the current price primarily to allow me participate in the upcoming rights issue?

I ask because most rights issue in 2012 turned to be very profitable for shareholders

i have in mind the banks especially like DTB, NIC etc which i particapted in

i had some sh 150k that i wanted to buy KCB but with price going up am thinking of putting that cash in Uchumi and then particpate in the rights issue

NO.

Anyway, Uchumi is overvalued and the new shares will dilute EPS further making even more over valued. i dont see the protits comparable to NIC/ DTB. Think more in the lines of KQ. a NO from me.

KQ flunked. SCBK, DTB & NIC were sold at huge discounts. All 3 are banks.

I'm appalled by the state of their supermarkets. They cant compete with nakumatt, they need to maintain and improve their facilities. Unless their target are ppl who do not care about that which i doubt.
Nakumatt prestige for example looks better with time.
If they do not improve their image, infrastructure and facilties, they cant attract the kind of customers that are needed to make them grow properly. The recovery phase has gone well, now i think its time to grow. end rant.

The company is doing well so, theres cash to be made, but what's their aim? to be one of the market leaders or just a chain of over-glorified kiosks. ok that last one was low even for my standards. I just feel they have potential to be better and more

I'm also very conflicted about uchumi, some of their stores look drab but if they get the strategy right they have good potential that's why i think it's good to participate in the rights issue it may be the funding for the growth phase.

Exiting Shareholders doing what they know best: bringing down their companies' value by panic selling. Even when SAFCOM was @2.8 some thought is should come further down to 0.sth
Wazua, At what price will UCHM bottom? Am having some appetite for this stock against my wish to reduce stocks with gok holding.

Inflation is slowly creeping up. Consumer stocks feel the heat first. Caution with this one.

Treasury pledge to take up Uchumi shares unlocks issue

“We are now ready to proceed with the rights issue whose timetable should be out in a week or two,” Mr Ciano told the Business Daily.

At the current price the right issue should be below 8bob for it to attract investors.
