I think I'm still pissed off at his performance but I have looked into several colleges and even NYS will not accept below D+ and I would really like for him to wake up.
Dont give up on the guy, its not him who has the issue here rather the education system as a whole. You need to realize that the education system around the world was developed to serve the industrial revolution and thats why subjects such as Eng Math and sciences were and continue to be emphasized on till this day. The tragedy ofcourse is that the edu system has not evolved as fast with the time...we continue to emphasize on these subjects hence creating a glut of qualified workmen - no wonder we have such high unemployment rates. Look at what Americans are paying for entertainment (Both theater and sports) Talk to the guy..not as a guardian (no life is hard stories) but more like a friend. Try to find out his passion...out of the "normal" careers that all are crazy about. Ask him frankly what he thinks would make good money for him today..expose him to the gnlds and the other network marketing forums in town (they give very good motivational talks) and you never know...something in him might be ignited. Whatever you do...keep off formal schooling at the moment, thats what i think he's rebelling against "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. The problem is you hope when you should fear & fear when you should hope: - Jesse Livermore .

my Question is, Before the KCSE exam, was the person given enough motivation to "be on their on feet"
Ama ni mmoja wa wale everyone in the house was tasked to look after them because they were the last borns. So they never learnt to wash their socks, panties, bath, put their dirty items away.....
Anyway I think the person should either be put into a bridging course or an Artisan one

I need help! There is a family member who got a D in KCSE and I have been tasked with the job of getting him to a level of where he will either be employable or self sufficient.
I am looking for ideas and opinions because apart from watching TV I don't think there is any other thing of interest this guy has. So you scored a D but at least you beat @qooler. D? thats a pass. I got a D- and am still here ATI NINI? May be true, since academic failure doesn't mean failure in life. @madhaquer, I'd also be sickened by such kind of lectures and I am glad that the young man is rebelling from such a 'system' of thought. So, what makes life hard for you? Papers? Why should one structure his life on papers? trash. Everything is moving, life is entropy. Disorder is the order. Papers are history. Who cares about history but the dead? Why are you angry at his performance? Do you also think that a makanga is a fool? Or a 'Kua' at 'marikiti'? Is the makanga a fool because he doesn't know 'Pliny'? The fool, is the man who says in his 'heart', "there's no God". And you are such a fool. For your heart says there's no God, and your tongue full of lies.

Nobody is beyond help. If he managed to go through the 4 yrs I feel he better than if he had dropped at class 8. I am in the same situation. Did not talk to him from the time results came out till this June. He was in Shaggz but have since enrolled him with AA Driving school, still wondering what to do but just wanted to keep him busy you know....And my househelp..oh my. only hope she'll survive. In the evening/late afternoon he goes back to run his kiosk. And many more. Today this fellows are very successful! The kiosk owner is trying to give Uhuru compe in land ownership! But this fellows made the decisions by themselves. The former kiosk owner told me he had made a decision never to live with a relative even for a single day and settled on kiosk ownership in his fifth year [Electrical Engineering] and even did market research on the same. After his last paper he embarked on the kiosk biashara with vigour! Who really cares what the relatives think? i have a string of relatives who will ask for everything from me since they know i will give, until one day in the year 2009 i realized i had not spent a penny on me except on those around me. Someone advised me to tie up all the loose monies in something useful, joined chamas left right and center, so now when someone asks for money and i say i do not have, its true, no guilt conscious. Otherwise Kenyans have a right of using you and taking advantage of you being generous, and dont forget the more you give the more they think you have. Ole wako kama ulichukua mkopo ukanunua vitz, to relatives a car=riches. Help the guy if he wants to be helped, i paid for an orphan niece of mine college fees last year only for her to drop out coz she was pregnant, told her its ok to go give birth and continue with her studies, when she went to shagz, she got married and got pregnant with another makanga, now my relatives think i did not take good care of her, that i exposed her to the man who made her pregnant. Lesson learnt, no matter how much you want to help, even God helps those who help themselves, so the Bible tells me.
