@CKirubi @alykhansatchu I have already declined an invitation to Dar next Monday.

I understand Kirubi declining as much as I think it's unwise but for Bob Collymore to decline is simply stupid. He has more to gain then lose as he's not Kenyan.

These guys would love to be Kenyans. Ask Michael Joseph!

I think Collymore is nowadays Jubilated!
Sad d'oh! d'oh!

Its important to note the uncle barry is coming with over 500 possible investors (Some of whom have pockets heavier than Kenya's GDP) who are looking for places to put their money. Chances are that some ATT or Sprint exec is on the trip, why would Bob feel compelled to take a flight to TZ to dine and perhaps encourage his potential competitor to come in and share the cake?

Spot on! that's one thing people don't seem to understand, mambo ya Obama kujua Kirubi ni upuzi. Obama is not coming to Africa on holiday, its has already been said that trade and investment with Africa will be a major focus of his visit....i think he wants to get U.S. companies a foothold in African markets. They have been trailing behind China in African investment who recently overtook them as Africa’s largest trading partners.

So bwana Taz, as a manager your advise is to ignore (or more appropriately) hide from your competitors when they come to scout your home for potential business. I thought it would be of more help to meet them and size them up.

The naked truth is that Kirubi is snubbing the TZ visit out of childish emotional support to Jubilee. As I stated eralier, he could be of more help to them by attending and supporting TZ who still happen to be our EAC brother top trading partner and neighbour.

Its not a matter of hiding rather, what value does it add to Bob? On Kirubi, its possible there are investors willing to do exactly what he does but set up in TZ, how would that be of benefit to CK? I mean someone might just be planning to cut his market share. The Americans are coming over to foster their interest, i guess Kenyans should also think in the same way.

If they have any interests in Kenya, they will make their way

If those 500+ investors have to wait for Barry to announce his next trip for them to know where to put their money, then they are not serious and we do not need them.

If a 'foreign' businessman wants to invest in Kisumu, the logical thing is for him to go to the city and meet the county govt officials and local businessmen to conclude the deal.

He should not ignore and bad mouth Kisumu and it's county govt (just because Ranguma is having a court case) and instead choose to go and meet the kakamega governor while inviting a few kisumu businessmen to dinner at Kakamega Golf hotel. Infact it looks stupid. Kisumu businessmen have a right to turn down such an invitation. If someone wants to come and invest in your home, he should come and discuss this in your home, not kwa jirani.

We need to get out of our begging attitude. A serious investor will invest even in Mogadishu if an opportunity exist and there is potential to MAKE MONEY!
