Forget about grammar. No parent in the world today has time to teach their kids how to speak their language properly. I wonder what kind of teachers we have nowadays because they are also responsible for the mess.

Grammar and pronounciation are two different animals. You can pronounce something differently but still be grammatically correct. Grammar is about how you construct sentences. It is about how the words in the sentence relate and whether they follow the rules and phonetic systems of the language.

People who ask 'you're how?' or 'Kwani he's like how'? grrrrrr!

Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't..

Saying this (pronounced 'thiss') people instead of these (pronounced 'thiizz') people...

This 'me I' thing came from a corruption of the phrase 'Me? I don't agree......'

Then Kenyans dropped the question mark some time in the early 1980s..... Me I was in secondary school and it used to drive me up the wall...then I was sucked in!!!!!

BTW: There is an interesting book called 'I Know It When I See It' by John Guaspari. It's about management of quality and it uses the story of a fictitious company that makes punctuation marks. Very interesting reading...

@mukiha.... What's english for 'mimi nilienda...' ...directly... Isn't it 'me i went...'?? The 'me i' is a 'mis-english' ..or rather uneducated attempt to speak english..a culture prevalent at (or is it in?) the coast..n most swahili speakin regions. Me i have made my point.

The race is not always to the swift..nor the battle always to the strong..nor food always to the wise..nor riches always to the intelligent..favor is not always to the skilled..or learned..but time and chance happens to all. Ecl9:5..

Whooping when they mean whopping

It was a whopping loss not a whooping loss...

And what about the loosing when they mean losing...
