Bamboo has advantages over wood as a flooring. Some are natural properties while others are generated during processing...

! No rotting, cracking, warping or splintering
! Looks and feels like natural wood, but harder and more durable than wood

Bamboo flooring is prone to cracking especially when women in high heels walk over it. Additionally it is not more durable than seasoned wood

There are various varieties of bamboo flooring. Some variety of bamboo can be dented others are extremely durable and can withstand a significant amount of pressure and temperature changes. Generally, STRAND-WOVEN bamboo flooring is way more durable than varieties that are CARBONIZED.

There is a link we had provided at the bottom of the first post that explains in more details.

All Bamboo flooring in most East African countries is imported. I do not know of any operating processing companies.

Perhaps we partner to start one? Why not email us at info(at)stroikagroup(dot)org

A point of information - Bamboo products are all those things pointed out in post 1, except one: Termite resistant. Please be informed that bamboo products are extremely attractive and vulnerable to termites, even after anti termite treatment. If you doubt, please visit the KEFRI research project in Karura, opposite CID headquarters on Kiambu road.

I was informed that this vulnerability to termites is the main reason why the products have not been officially launched commercially, as they try to address this.
