Hustlers like me r tempted to apply *tiredofbeingindoors*

If you can work with a control freak who feels the need to constantly remind you that he's in charge and takes any suggestions from you as an attempt to undermine his authority...by all means, apply.
Whew! Sorry, anyway he is quite a handful!

...Show him the middle figure and move on (joking...You will need him for reference later!). For the time being play by his rules while thinking of an exit strategy...Don't leave in a huff...Be good to him and the rest of the staff...Let him not think like he is the reason for your exit...

Oh I'm pretty sure I wont, in fact I'd rather sell drugs than seek a reference from that ass wipe.
Pardon my French.

Good advice so far.

One more thing: please resign in a good way. It won't hurt to leave your bridges standing. Who knows, you might come back later (I'm saying might) on a bigger grade!!

...The thing is, employers always want to get reference from your previous employer and more so from your last supervisor. But if there is someone else who can do that well and good...but my advice would be...Don't leave in a huff!!!...And remember wherever you go you will always find 'ass wipes'

QUIT. QUIT QUIT. Don't get used to abuse and enslavement!

You have been working there because you have a brain which an organization can utilize and make money. Therefore, it means outside that organization, you will still have your brain which you can hire out to the best bidder, which includes yourself.

You can start a consultancy, if your expertise is in service provision or you can selling products, if your expertise is in selling goods.

Please please don't submit yourself to door-mat status.

Most importantly quit honourably. Don't leave clients hanging. If giving notice will make the situation worse, resign gradually. Start mentally, hand over key functions to a colleague then one Friday hand in a 'well written' resignation letter. Don't cite your frustrations in the letter. Just thank them for the opportunity to open your eyes to higher heights.

Kikuyus says 'kiraro gitimiyagwo' meaning 'you don't shit on your bed' because 'kumagwo ni gucakagwo meaning 'you might go back to a place you've left'. I remember after quitting my first job, my boss 'hired' me via my newly registered company.

I din't go back as a slave but as a King.Company to Company.

In the meantime, I hope this article will help.

Having done this twice before blindly. The thing is follow your gut and heart, they are never wrong. Granted you have savings to keep you going for some time, quit using procedures laid out on your contract no need for garnishing and pretending it was all hankie dorrie, give yourself 2 months to detox from bad boss. During these two months don't worry much about the next job, look for one very passively and unless something is very promising work on autopilot mode on this front. From the 3rd month begin to look actively circulate cv, visit employ bureaux, talk to your mates and the siblings etc..give yourself 3-6 months and pray for God's will..sounds simple but it somehow works, one of those ingenious ways God's communicates to human beings!

@Val,

Three months ago I left my job because of my psycotic, manipulative and stupid (at least in my opinion) boss.

Was a tough decision especially because I had always wanted to work for that particular company (great pay, great trainig opps, great exposure) but the environment was TOXIC and I realised that everyday extra day I stayed there, I was becoming bitter/withdrawn from the constant yelling/put-downs...

So I left...and 3 weeks later, I landed a better job with all the benefits (and more) I had, and most importantly, a company that VALUES its human resources.

So my advice... Stop thinking about it and hand in that letter.

All the best
