Laugh all you want. The only reason you think it cannot be done is because no one has put in enough effort to make it possible. The journey of a thousand miles starts with one small step. We cannot allow our future to be dictated by our current inadequacies of thought and spirit.

One laptop per child is not unique to Kenya. It is taking hold in other countries as well and I know some one will yada yada that those other countries are not Kenya but guess what, there is nothing truly special about Kenya, that will set us apart from the rest of the world.

As Jonas Salk once said " I have had dreams and I have had nightmares, but I have overcome the nightmares by focussing on my dreams"

...... and that I believe is the way forward, focus on the possibilities and watch those so called impossibilities begin to unravel.

I rest my case.
They must find it difficult....... those who have taken authority as the truth, rather than truth as the authority. -G. Massey.

We like to dream alot, can we feed the population first, basic needs first. I am sure the new leadership meant well and I also know that they probably don't know that alot of school lack basic structures called classrooms and desks. That happen when your are wealthy and mighty in Kenya.

We do not need to give every std one pupil a Laptop. Better we have all primary schools and secondary schools with proper computer labs so that ALL pupils/students can access technology. It is easier to administer and provide the skills required.

and 99.9% primary school teachers are computer illiterate. start with the teachers first.

Hehe. They will learn together with the kidssmile

and which country in the universe has the luxury of giving free laptops to class one kids?
its misplaced priorities anyway ,a middle class kid in Nairobi would wonder why a turkana one is dying of hunger when their fridge is always full.

An additional 7billion per annum to a 1.5trillion budget is peanuts and insignificant and does not even warrant all these complaints I've been reading here!

Its merely a 0.46% increase in the budget and in 8years we will have every primary school child computer literate!

And those who claim that its not a priority, since when has computer literacy not been a priority for African citizens???

I wish to know the following please.
1. The supplier/s and country/ies.
2. Who has been awarded the contract to ship them.
3. The terms of shipping.
4. How many have been brought in so far and how many expected.
5.I assume they are coming by sea.

Thanks.

Let's start with the date on the blackboard. 2009!

This is NOT the govt project.

The data collected by the company responsible for the one laptop per child project would be very interesting when used to gauge the success of the HUGE campaign promise.
