Afia Juices vs Coca Cola

White sugar can only be added to the Nectars but not fruit juice. Sucrose can easily be detected and KEBS will be in your case if you were to add white sugar and sell it as fruit juice. So the company you were working for was definitely making nectars and selling in tetra paks!!!! This is Kenya. Do not be fooled by those labels and further more, those working in KBS are our own. I used to work for a guy who would evade all taxes and wherever I would tell him it would be bad if KRA guys visited the premises, He would assure me that he would only be worried if they sent a machine not a human being.

They import real apples and turn them into juices? NO! They import apple chemical powders and mix them with water to form juices. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

What is industrial sugar as I believe this is what is used in coke and it is imported?What type of sugar is added to beer?

I rest my case!!!!! I agree with McReggae about the chemical issue. Those juices in Tetrapaks have no chemicals. Most of them are made of fruit concentrates (you can google that. The only problem is the sugar part. Someone has mentioned about industrial sugar....may be this is what I called white sugar. But someone told me that Delmonte use fruit syrup as a sweetener...not sure if this is true. If you are careful, you will realize that delmonte has two types of juices, what they call fruit juice and what they call juice blend. The fruit juice is in dark green packets and and is only available I guess in Pineapple and Orange. The other has green and white colour on the packet. I guess the one that is more of juice is the first one. But in summary, they are not chemicals but are not the best options for the health conscious. For the health conscious, buy fruits in the market. A question. How much do you think a litre of apple juice would cost considering the price of one apple?

My beverage of choice is a warm Guiness for many reasons that most of you have already mentioned. In a nutshell I believe that it has more health benefits than coke, delmonte,afia and all the others combined. I rest my case!

Like Coke, the mantra of making Afia juices at available at every street corner is also one of the reasons that has made this low cost juice popular.
Which reminds me of the tragic tale of Picana, which has just refused to penetrate the market over the yrs, despite using real fruit pulp. A sleeping giant over the years.
Haiya, whatever happened to Alvaro - a marketing blitzkrieg, success and then...loud silence. Ama it achieved its aim of proving it was a successful brand (Kenya was used as a testing ground)...or the hype just died after Mahinda left?

I know someone who worked in Softa when it was starting to become a hit and Coca-Cola Kenya pulled a first one on them (buying sodas, pouring and breaking bottles).
I believe they've changed their marketing strategies since Afia really seems to be doing well.
I personally would buy Afia anytime over Coke.
