CIC Customer service...POOREST???-Who can assist?

My car was involved in accident in 2nd Feb 2013 and I reported to CIC immediately. I had given a friend of mine to attend a medical bill fundraising in their home town in Thika. Since reporting the matter to CIC, I have been frustrated esp by a lady called Rose in claims (ast Claims Manager). I wrote my frustration through email last week (4 months since the accident) through their customer service offices in town and upper hill. The very same Rose who has arrongantly treated me in various visits in their offices in upperhill scans me a letter he has written together with the CEO but non has signed at the footer claiming that they will not pay the claim since I contravened the terms of policy. I treat this as arrogance of highest order esp after I raised the issue through their customer service. Who can help in this case? or someone needs to write an email copy TJRC, Nationmedia,Wazua,AKI, Jichopevu,ICC,statehousecontroler ,watchman, whoever you can get on email etc.... Find out which "terms of the policy" have been contravened....then re-look into your copy of the policy. Formally employed people often live their employers' dream & forget about their own.

@supersportsmankenya your problem lies in the following statement " I had given a friend of mine to attend a medical bill fundraising in their home town in Thika." If it were you driving things could have been much easier. Was the mistake on the person driving your vehicle or the other party. @Ericson, they hard interviewed me and asked whther the person driving was doing so with my person which is a yes. My question is, when a car is comprehensively insured, does it matter who drives? I know the only challenge is when the driver does not have a driving license "The right decision is the wrong decision if it's made too late." - Lee Iacocca

If you did not indicate "any other authorized driver" they will decline to pay. Lord, thank you!

Demand to see the CEO. If they cannot resolve that, just visit the Insurance Regulatory Authority with all those copies and demand to see the Commissioner. You may not see him, but you will be directed to the right person. They are at ZEPRE place, Upper hill. We Kenyans need to learn that the law does protect both the insurer and the Policy holder. And there are institutions that are set up to deal with precisely these matters. We fail by not reporting officially. Once you do, You would be shocked how powerful these people are. i.e CMA,CBK,IRA etc I Think Therefore I Am

From: aemathenge Sent: Monday, June 10, 2013 4:31 PM To: callc@cic.co.keSubject: Customer Care Good afternoon, I am contemplating purchasing a personal motor vehicle which shall require, among other things, insurance cover. As such, I am also shopping for insurance cover. I also patronize an online forum, www.wazua.co.ke and one thread has one of your clients complaining bitterly about your service. The link to the thread is: http://www.wazua.co.ke/f...&t=24640#post420736 The client actually refers to an Assistant Claims Manager named Ms. Rose who has been "frustrating" his accident claim. In view of the foregoing, kindly assure your client, prospective clients visiting the forum and I that your service is the best by enlightening us all on the problem at stake. I look forward to your response, particularly on the forum. Kind regards, aemathenge

@aemathenge. I hope they offer you a better deal for your insurance of the car. Make sure you write in the form everyone who will drive the very car you want to insure. My understanding of insurance is that we only have comprehensive and third party. Little did I know that you have to indicate everyone who will drive your car in the form according to CIC (whereas the form has only 2 lines yet someone expect you to write your whole village/citymate) . I am waiting for some feedback by Wednesday then I seek arbitration with their CEO and ARI or even further. I will stop at nothing until justice is done. You put your name (or 2 names) and any other authorized driver. Unauthorized drivers maybe carjackers etc... and if you are jarked and your car has an accident, they will not pay. If a friend was driving the car, you have a strong case. Dash to IRA. Lord, thank you!

From: aemathenge Sent: Thursday, June 13, 2013 4:17 PM To: B. K. Subject: Re: Customer Care Good afternoon Madam, Let me start by saying I was impressed by your rapid response to my email. Thank you for that. I am a free lance writer on the internet working from home and the nature of my job does not allow me to have a "live" cellphone, however, I can be reached via this email or sms via 000 000 000. I plan to purchase a motor vehicle sometime in the third quarter of 2014 but in the meantime, I seek views from current policyholders and companies especially on complaints and the respective company responses to the said complaints for I guess I might be confronted by the challenges these policyholders go through. Examples include the following gleaned from the forum: http://www.wazua.co.ke/f...px?g=posts&m=420910

Kindly let me know, preferably on the forum, your response to the above challenges faced by one of your clients, which shall go a long way in enabling me assess your service and its delivery. DATED : 13 JUNE 2013, 6:36 PM FROM : C. M. M. TO : aemathenge CC : B. K. RE.: CUSTOMER CAREHello Mr. Mathenge, We thank you for your keen interest on the said matter. We would very much like to have you on board with us when you are ready. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of my colleagues for any product information. Please note that we have not been able to register on wazua directly so that we could make the post as an organization, it keeps going to the log in page, see below: (please assist by posting the response below on our behalf)Quote:“As CIC Insurance Group, we greatly appreciate the opportunity to clarify the matter in hand.
We would like to first and foremost note that it is our quest to meet and surpass our customers’ expectations in line with our customer value proposition.
As regards this specific case, CIC followed due process required by the insurance regulations, to assess the damage of the insured vehicle after the accident and to put together all relevant facts pertaining to the vehicle and the circumstances of its use.
It is through this process that we noted that the insured’s ‘business partner’ was the custodian of the vehicle in Nairobi for a period of more than 6 months while the insured was away in another area of the country.
The ‘business partner’s statement did not corroborate the insured’s statements surrounding their partnership. There was lack of proof of their partnership.
These and other discrepancies noted during the investigation led CIC to decline the claim.
We have been in direct and continued communication with the insured during the course of the claim review.
In any matter where the insured is not satisfied with the outcome from the insurer, one may seek redress from the Insurance Regulation Authority or follow the judicial process.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite the insured party whom we have referenced in this statement to visit our office to see our Managing Director, CIC General Insurance, Mr. Kimani for any clarification.” CIC Insurance Group; Twitter: @CICInsurance Facebook: CIC Insurance Group www.cic.co.ke. .....I think CIC and the insured may not want to say it directly but all things point to the car having been hired out or used silently as a taxi. Find out from your friend what he told CIC (which am sure he did innocently of course) Comprehensive cover on personal cars exclude hiring out the vehicle, there are products designed for taxis though, and they are a bit expensive so the insured may have deliberately or ignorantly ignored that, most likely CIC does not offer that kind of product. Obviously anyone can tell from the foregoing that this vehicle was being used for taxi business. Hata nyinyi mnaobeba majirani asubuhi na kuwalipisha, when you one day get an accident with these passengers in the car, ma broda or sista ooooo, unless your car had a PSV Taxi insurance, you will find yourself alone. All those passengers when interrogated, unless you couch them to say hey were offered free lifts, they will innocently say they paid fare....and that's the catch......... think again
