@mkono. they appetite for large debt is why I sold first kplc then kengen . too aggresive and for what? I wasn't comf with that debt as a shareholder. despite the rosy outlook The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

The key reason for the power tariffs review was because kplc had entered into contracts to buy power from new projects kengen and IPPs. Now if your sole purchaser cannot buy the power you are producing at a good bargain how then do you attract capital to your projects. Turkana wind project is 74 billion, the proposed coal gas plant by kengen would come to 600million $ around 50billion. The only way to fund this capital intensive projects would be for kengen to continue soaking debt and that would hurt the equity. Shareholders would come out worse as @Kausha keeps saying. With that in mind I have placed an order to sell all my Kengen shares take out my 90% capital gains (I sold out a major portion @ 16.05 after I heard the new Enery secretary Chirchir speak in Statehouse). I will now set up a helpline like Buffet with airline stocks every time I want to invest in GoK parastatals I will call them and they talk me down. "Every hand is a winner, every hand is a loser" I follow the money and it has been flowing into kengen. KPLC will ALWAYS buy ALL the power that KENGEN produces, keep that in mind "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. Deputy President Ruto should now crack the whip on ERC on the formula used to calculate petrol prices and KPRL. Efficiency in these two organisations will be key to lowering the cost of fuel and ultimately the cost of living and doing business Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

and other relevant sources? Note: to see the graphs use Google chrome or Fox! The opposite of courage is not cowardice, it's conformity.

Trade still remains long kengen, short kplc yaani buy kengen, sell kplc. Kengen will remain a monopoly longer than kplc. This is why it's easier for it to be thrown under the bus. Next political deals on power transmission will crop up. Just follow the money... $15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

MANUFACTURERS want to buy power directly from generating companies to avoid unnecessary costs charged by Kenya Power in a bid to reduce their energy expenses. Speaking on Friday evening during the Energy Awards held in Nairobi, Kenya Association of Manufacturers chairman Polycarp Igathe said inefficiencies in the country's distribution system make manufacturers pay higher energy costs which would be avoided in a competitive environment. http://www.the-star.co.k...rs-want-pass-kenya-power"There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear.
