Why do you ask?
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

That form is no big deal; armed with a P9, anyone with basic primary school education can fill it up in 10 minutes flat.

Because the returns help in carrying out audits... however, the job of evaluating them is tedious, that's why KRA wants to migrate to online filing - like they did with VAT.

Apparently some employers were deducting the PAYE from their employees' salaries but not remitting it to KRA. The reversal is therefore to correlate the employer and employee's PAYE returns and catch the culprits. I say, good move KRA!
It is a curious fact that of all the illusions that beset mankind, none is quite as curious as that tendency to suppose that we are mentally and morally superior to those who differ from us in opinion.

Yes. Our accounting/audit firm has unequivocally informed us that 2012 VAT forms have to be filled in by 30 June 2013.

Do teachers, policemen, civil servants etc have to do the same thing?

I will file a written physical copy. I refuse to enter then online unless they force me to. KRA is placing a very heavy burden on their heads of sorting and entering those forms.
Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

must be a very tedious and long job going through all those forms and comparing with other records. most civil servants, especially the ones who work upcountry don't even know that the process exists.
