I missed this.My friend runs petrol stations and there is money to be made in petrol stations but it boils down to location,target market and management.If you want to make it,ensure the location is on the A104 highway preferably at major towns and target the truckers and trucking companies.From my experience border towns are ideal eg Busia,Malaba etc.Trucks heading outside Kenya prefer to fuel before leaving the country and a truck can fuel 1000 litres or more and it is not unusual to sell 30000 litres of diesel in a day.Petrol does not count as he considers it pocket change.He runs an independent and thus the margins are averagely at shs.6 a litre.He has also calibrated the diesel pump to dispense 0.9litre instead of 1 litre giving him more profits.The challenge is theft by staff but his ruthlessness ensures the staff fear him.
