According to an article in today's daily nation, the level of road carnage is at an all time high. What are some practical solutions to taming this monster? What can be done about there lorries and matatus that seem to be involved in almost every major accident? How do we deal with complacency, ineptitude, and corruption among our traffic police?

Every morning as i start my car, I tell myself that i need to be very careful and alert for the simple reason that ALL other drivers on the road are potential hazards I get blocked, swerved over, cut in and honked, by my fellow personal car drivers.. We dont stop, even when the Lights go red until an "average traffic cop" stops right infront of you. we dont drive below 100km/hr, unless we know the speed gun is somewhere near where you are driving.. We dont service our cars...untill it has done 500kms more over the service limit... We dont give way...because giving way means mtu anakudharau...

Training really matters,I had the opportunity of learning how to drive via my old man see that guy was strict before he could comfortably give me the ride for an errand it took almost 6 months, but I appreciate the strictness coz it made me a good driver, our driving schools are just a sham thats where most of the focus should be you pay for a driving course and learn zilch 90% of the time you will be stuck in traffic and you,ll be lucky to drive just a few metres come exam day you,ll drive for a few seconds because the people who have come for the test are so many and the cops are few,if you fail just chota/some driving schools actually assure you ul neva fail they send emisssaries with bribes before hand to ensure every student from the school passes ...our whole system is a mess needs complete overhaul...systems should be in check to punish repeat offendors, that means money for new driving licences that keep track of offences you have done etc... The other day I was coming from rongai some guy behind me was so.aggressive yet coz of traffic on the other side he couldnt overtake so he decided to tail gate me I actually told my passenger that he might hit me from behind...and true to my word he almost did there are new bumps just at multi media NO signage as usual as I hit the brake he had to swerve and go off road to avoid rear ending me...then he complains that am the one whose on the wrong ...He was lucky there was no on coming vehicle, head on mara that that...we just break all the rules nobody cares, the driver doesnt, the cops dont, leadership doesnt...life continues, thats who we are proud Kenyans who are ok killing our fellow Kenyans on the road... possunt quia posse videntur

Our generation has become Audio-Visual. If we could get a few accidents happening and play them over n' over n' over again, prime time. And if we could a dramatization of passengers demanding an errant matatu driver slow down, drive cautiously etc and play it over n' over n' over again; something might give

Maybe all drivers should have their licences cancelled and forced to go back to driving school. There should be at least one certified driving school and testing centre in every county.

Ooh...Same Rongai. On Sato a Matatu hit me at the back. I wonder where the guy was rushing to yet ahead of me it was like a parking lot as usual. Thank God nobody was hurt. What is worrying me is the number of young people driving crazily on the roads once they are drunk on the weekend. I have lost several friends now, one a close friend...and the script is the same: THEY WERE DRUNK. I appreciate not all accidents are as a result of careless drivers, but majority are.

Simple solution: ban alcohol. See for yourself a 46 year old on the same issue. Where was he rushing to!! Blaylock facing charges after fatal crash
