But now I see speech, thought, and interpretation in a different light, and all anger and defensiveness is lost.
But speaking on the authority of books and texts, I can only say that authority is beyond both writer and interpreter, and even time. For example, what is 'Snow white and the seven dwarfs' about? Or stories on 'stone soup' about?
My take is, authority is that which goes into the ancient of days, and the joining link or path, is necessarily narrow, and has everything to do with Man, and God. So marriage and success and wealth and addictions are also included. Where does this leave man god???? On the stony path, McRaggae!

Following. I know that God works in mysterious ways Ecclesiastes 1:5, Jeremiah 33:3, Mark 4:11-12, 1 Corinthians 2:7, Ephesians 3:9, 1 Timothy 3:16, Colossians 2:2-3 To judge others or claim to know everything is dangerous, for it is as Jesus Christ says, the Holy Spirit comes upon you and reveals knowledge. John 14:17 Therefore as you embark on this journey, I pray that you'll not rely on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5 but seek direction from the Holy Spirit. For James 3:1 says that not everyone should presume to be teacher, for they shall receive a stricter judgment; and teachers are targeted more by satan in spiritual warfare. Please read 1 Timothy 3, 2 Timothy 2:24-25, Titus 1:7-16

It is not about ...
Human triumph over adversity Success or the attainment thereof Self Actualization Self Esteem Health and Wealth Protection from curses,disease,death,poverty etc Getting a husband or a wife Having children or a family Stopping "ungodly" habits e.g drinking,smoking drug use etc Going to church and or being "active" in church
Before you even start, can you tell us if you are for or against ICC......

I find religious discussions really exhausting. I believe religion is very personal. After all, each individual will be solely judged. So I always wonder people fight to portray their religion as the best. Live and let live.
To me, the Gospel is about hope, forgiveness, love and Faith. God acknowledges that i am imperfect due to my human nature and thus he is willing to forgive and accept me whenever I am remorseful. Because i love him, a love spurred through faith, i will treat my fellow men with dignity, and of course I hope for a better eternal life.

Interesting responses. Especially because no one seems to be at war with what the gospel is not.... Quote: Human triumph over adversity Success or the attainment thereof Self Actualization Self Esteem Health and Wealth Protection from curses,disease,death,poverty etc Getting a husband or a wife Having children or a family Stopping "ungodly" habits e.g drinking,smoking drug use etc Going to church and or being "active" in church
Yet churches are full of people "Getting Saved", "Giving", "In Ministry" etc, because they have been sold one or more of the things i mentioned above.... Anyway.... So what is the Gospel ? ...Had started typing on this when i realized it will be long winded and may lose the simple point im making. Will post the summary tomorrow.

@Mtu Biz,
You did not answer my question about ICC, the question is relevant because the church is suppose to provide honest assessments during hard times. Where do you stand on that?
