In order to know or learn anything, you must submit to an authoritative source of the knowledge you seek.
In order to know what the Gospel is, or is not, you have to consult the authoritative source on this. The Bible.

Most of what i see posted on wazua, on tv etc is a misrepresentation of the Gospel. Christians or those who think they are christians have submitted to all manner or teachers and teachings on the Gospel, few have gone back to the authoritative voice on this to see if these things be true.
This thread is an attempt at setting the record straight based solely on the authority of scripture.

I had started an exegesis of galatians but never got round to finish it. The enthusiasm of the target group was overwhelming when compared to their sensational submissions on syria.

Before i delve into what the Gospel is as revealed in the scriptures allow me to say what it is not.

It is not about ...

Human triumph over adversity
Success or the attainment thereof
Self Actualization
Self Esteem
Health and Wealth
Protection from curses,disease,death,poverty etc
Getting a husband or a wife
Having children or a family
Stopping "ungodly" habits e.g drinking, smoking drug use etc
Going to church and or being "active" in church

Sola Scriptura

@mtubiz

I Think At The End Of The Exposition, The Gospel Is All About John 3:16.
The Verse We Were All Supposed To Memorise But Didnt!!!

so much So That Luke 4:18-19 He Declares 'I Have Come To Set The Captives Free"

And who Are The Captives? Those That are His Own, to Whom He came, But They recognised Him Not" John 1:9-11.

Is The Gospel Of John The Simplest of Them Gospels?

So far i am in agreement. I am waiting for what you will delve into. It seems it will be good and exciting.

Muheani, you have a point to drive so you are gathering the "supporting verses". Why not let the verses tell you their point instead?

I have judged some teachers as false, and avoided many 'prophets', when they created arguments and analogies using Bible verses to extol values and habits that have tacitly negated what I have believed to be the truth.

But now I see speech, thought, and interpretation in a different light, and all anger and defensiveness is lost.

But speaking on the authority of books and texts, I can only say that authority is beyond both writer and interpreter, and even time. For example, what is 'Snow white and the seven dwarfs' about? Or stories on 'stone soup' about?

My take is, authority is that which goes into the ancient of days, and the joining link or path, is necessarily narrow, and has everything to do with Man, and God. So marriage and success and wealth and addictions are also included.
