The easiest way to get rid of this slum is to start flattening the slums, then the dwellers will think about getting out. Ofcourse that will not happen because of the political implications of doing it.

The most effective way would be to make it very difficult to live in those slums (have a very punitive tax regime) that leaving the city would be the only option out.

That's a wish that will never come true.
Wish you knew how many NGO'S depend on this slum for their survival.
no slum>>no probs>>no donors>>no jobs.

The people in real need of the slum live in Runda and Karen.

Essyk, modified ujamaa is about collaborating to compete. Collaboration is for creating 'hygiene factors' like communal respect for the law, community participation in problem solving, backed by an open taxation system in which a government negotiates with a community for tax contributions for specific projects that have been approved, through dialogue.

The governments tasks would be those of collecting and analyzing information, engaging the public on implications, prescribing solutions and encouraging trade and commerce and social networks.

Private enterprises are then to compete in providing actual products that include roads and other 'mass market' utilities.

Collaboration will ensure that members of the involved networks, and indeed all citizens participate in protecting each other and their infrastructure.

If well managed, Kenya will have no slum, wealth will be evenly distributed and disposable incomes will be so high that Americans and Europeans would be dying to live and work here.

We'd even have veto powers in the UN security council.

when you interact with some of the guys who live in slums ..you realize above all causes ..it is also a serious psychological problem until we acknowledge it as such..slums are here with us
