Farming should not be top secret...Kenya needs to feed itself!
True. It should be public knowledge if we have to feed ourselves.

I am also very interested in farming. Thanks guys. this post has been so informative.
I have land at my disposal in the rich and fertile area of Mt. Elgon. The climate is great, the soil is volcanic and rich and the lands are green. However, we have one big problem. Water supply is quite limited. Therefore it is very difficult fro me to partake in the planting of crops that require a lot of water.
Therefore, I am thinking of doing doing animal farming. i love animals very very much. Nevertheless, i have no idea what to do or which animals offer the best returns.
Any help?????

Take a first step and try perhaps with simple goats...take it from there.

I want to do commercial farming. Seriously. I have a few cows, sheep and goats. But they just keep me company when am there
I maybe interested in Poultry or Rabbit. But I am reluctant on the Rabbit part because they are sooo cute and sweet. it would kill me to think that am raising them to become food

Please consider using HDPE pipes - the ones sold in rolls of like 100m. Visit Doshi on Mombasa road.
They are flexible and need very little plumbing. They have a longer useful life - especially if exposed to the sun, they don't break easily. Found them to be at comparable cost to the normal PVC pipes. Make sure you get a plumber who has used them before.
@Mkimwa, I need a hook up with such a plumber. Would appreciate leads.
