There is abundant coal in Mui basin enough to take this country to the next industrial level in 8 years flat.Analysis carried out in SA show that our coal is much superior due to low ash.........If utilised,our power bills would reduce by as much as 75%.It also happens that the said deposits are with 50 km of gypsum and pozzolinite deposits discovered in the same area.....costs of building would plummet......but hey,this is Kenya.All talk and no show.......Who will save us??

@Vision2030,

''Very good progress' has been made.........The last time i checked,Baks and Rao were distributing hoes,mattocks,spades and wheelbarrows to Vijana wa Ukambani (Kazi kwa Vijana).......Coal is as near as that....!!

I believe this is one of the reasons for setting up of the ministry of mining. The U.S with a population of 300 million generates more than 50 % of it's energy needs from coal..
Exploitation of this coal would definitely be a game changer for Kenya..the possibilities are limitless...

President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed that Kshs 4 billion should be set aside annually starting this financial year for the purchase of equipment to boost security in the country.

Expressing concern over the rising incidences of crime in the country, President Kenyatta emphasized the need to contain the situation.

The President was speaking today at his Harambee House office where he was briefed on the security situation in the country by Inspector-General David Kimaiyo.

President Kenyatta further ordered the formation of a special team comprising officials from Treasury, Police and the Office of the President to identify the equipment required and to manage the procurement of the same.

Meanwhile, the President said modalities are being Worked out to increase the number of police officers in the country.

President Kenyatta, at the same time, regretted the rising incidences of road accidents, especially those involving boda boda motorcycle riders.

In this regard, the President ordered the traffic police to ensure traffic regulations and laws are observed at all times.

The Head of State also directed the office of the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet to work closely with Ministry of Transport to ensure the boda boda sector is well regulated and managed, particularly
with respect to insurance and training of riders.

At a separate meeting, President Kenyatta was briefed on the status of the budget by the Treasury team where he directed the team to work out a program to ensure Kenya’s economy is the most competitive in the region
and beyond.

The President also stressed the need to explore how the country can start generating energy from coal, saying it will be affordable and reliable hence bring down the cost of doing business in the country.

During the briefing, President Kenyatta was assured by the Treasury team that money for the laptop program, Youth and Women Enterprise Funds, free maternity and putting one million acres under irrigation is factored in
the budget.
