The bible contains many examples of men who had many wives, our cultures had no issues with polygamy. Considering the issues we are continually seeing mothers with kids emerging whenever we have a big man pass away, why not actively encourage polygamy? Men can then recognise their mpango kandos before they die

How many women would proudly want to be seen as a second wife?... "officially"?

SOme women don't mind being number two, or three, or four. Who knows, maybe if this stigma is removed, then even whose mpango wa kandos can accept with head high.

The issue of totally condemning it, is wrong. Of course it may not be acceptable to some people. But nobody is forcing anyone. Let those who want to practice.

Polygamy is shunned by Christians not the muslims who can have upto 4 wives. Most Kenyans are Christians and we shunned African practices hence the reason you will see the are not recognising the MWKs. Christianity seem to condemn it because its a religion from Europe who were monogamous in their culture(i believe)...so when Christianity spread, that culture went with it. No where is it condemned in the bible, the Arabs and Jews in Israel still practice it, but Israel may not do it much because of their vast immigration in Europe and the culture they have adopted.
