UTI is not necessarily an STI.

Eagles don't flock, you have to find them one at a time.

Hello Wazuans?
I need help.

My cuzo has been having "mwashos" just at his bladder especially when passing urine since 2011. The condition was diagnized as "urinary tract (bacterial) infection" & has since been on Antibiotics. But the pain keeps recurring. Of late the pain has even been affecting the kidney. Test have shown that the kindeys are still ok & doctors say this may be due to the healing process. Pls advise on how this infection can be cured.Sad

If the findings were a UTI, they are recurrent depending on alot of things. For a woman, it is absolutely necessary to wipe front to back to avoid bacteria entering the urethra causing recurrent UTI's. Cranberry juice has compounds that fight bacteria in the urine and aids in fighting infection. If your cuz did not finish his antibiotics or did not take them as were intended it could be a cause for recurrent infections. If he has frequency and a burning during urination, these are sure signs of UTI's. Now abt the growth, not sure what that is...Good luck

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are unusual in men given the anatomy of their genitourinary system. Hence a UTI in a man is always classified as a complicated UTI and must be treated. Uncomplicated UTIs need not be treated, for example a young woman with bacteria in her urine but otherwise no symptoms such as burning with urination, suprapubic tenderness does not need antibiotics.

It is likely that the antibiotic you were treated with did not have adequate coverage for the type of bacteria causing your infection. It is very important that you get a urine culture with sensitivities to guide treatment. Untreated UTIs can progress to severe kidney infection. Moreover since you're a man you will need to be evaluated by a specialist for any signs of structural abnormalities. Lastly, talk to your doctor about using pyridium (phenazopyridine)for symptomatic relief of burning with urination. Pyridium causes an orange discoloration of your urine, which is just a benign side effect that you should not worry about.
