Quote:
Highly-placed sources in the House said the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) is paying each of the 418 MPs Sh856,000 instead of the gazetted monthly salary of Sh542,500.
PSC made the decision through a unanimous resolution to pay each of the 349 MPs and 67 senators “a corrected pay of Sh856,000”.
This puts their salaries at par with what their colleagues in the 10th Parliament enjoyed.

Attempts by Government to control prices will always fail.

And because Government is always trying to control prices, corruption will always rise because citizens will resort to creating balance through hiding and under hand deals, and force.

That is, Government is a great contributor to crime. It must be reformed.

I am still wondering how the SRC really caved in to bulying by the Mpigs even when their tenure is secure under the new constitution!!

Me thinks lots of money changed hands here and this SRC must GO!!!!!ABK!!nkt!!
...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...

Rationalization is control. How? The rationalizer is the frame of reference on what is reasonable or appropriate.

In this case, all political positions should be subject to free and open market activities.

Again, rationalization implies taxation, and taxation is a price control.

Even with tenure, this is one toothless commission. Seriously, no one can stand up to the Mpigs and call their bluff..I can't believe this..

On another note, is this why Linturi is furiously agitating for a pay hike..Rink

I don't think this is true. First, these are people who've gone through elections, and are amenable to recall.

Then, in our system of government, they are most suited to representing their interests.

Yes, they bought the votes or got elected because they were from the right ethnic community or the right party. They were not purely elected on issues and they can only be best suited to representing their own interests-hiking their salaries- and not the interests of the electorate.
