KQ has also been my favourite, though i divested when it was tumbling.

I have just been wondering how the budget airline industry may affect them? KQ is a leader in Africa due to its efficiency compared to other african airlines, but if budget airlines are to infiltrate their turf, what will happen?

Currently, most Kenyans from dubai are flying air arabia ( bgt airline),at a price (20-25K) close to half of KQ (40-45k) to Nairobi return. The airline is also looking to expand further and this may be a tough call.

BTW: Difference between the 2 is KQ has meals included in the ticket. But when booking with Air Arabia, you can buy food at say about 600/-. never travelled with them but I understand theyre comfortable.

My 2 cents....

Africa has seen many 'African' budget (& mainstream) airlines collapse... Air Arabia might be the first 'foreign' budget airline & is a threat to KQ on the NBO-UAE route. I wonder how Emirates (which also flies NBO-DBX) competes against Air Arabia?
***-*** BTW,remember KQ can fly a passenger from Ndola all the way to Hong Kong... which budget airlines (point-to-point) generally cannot do.

Quarter results are out this Fri morning. It would be interesting to see to what extent fuel price changes are officially impacting on this.
