People, please tell me how different cohabiting or come-we-stay is from a 'real' marriage. Anyone who will enlighten me?

In the Catholic church, the minimum requirement in terms of personnel for a valid wedding is 5 pple (the couple, a witness for each of them and a witness for the church) The witness for the church doesn't have to be a priest, any one can be asked by the priest to witness as the couple to administer the Sacrament of Matrimony.
It also doesn't have to be announced, although I think announcing is also for the benefit of the couple intending to get married too.
One guy was really shocked to learn that kids who were almost half his age whom he believed to be siblings of his wife were actually children of his wife of so many years. Also there r so many other things that could be addressed by that simple announcement that most people forget as soon as the last word in the announcement is uttered.

You can do a church wedding on a weekday privately at the pastor's office then have dinner for the small wedding party. a friend (no, not me) did his in church on a Friday then went to Parklands club for dinner. found it cool

Weddings MUST be in public domain, big ceremony with over 200 guests from my side. otherwise how will my people know i have a great spouse who loves me and is ready to take care of me. Honeymoon to wonderful places of my choice to boot. NO SHORTCUTS.

And of course have the ceremony aired on the Wedding Show on Citizen TV or Samantha Bridal Show on NTV. Yes, that's what it is for you.

Ok, for some people it is like this:
Quote:
The desire to cohabitate without being legally married has to do with not wanting to conform to traditional values concerning romantic relationships. These individuals may feel that they don't need the government or organized religion to make their relationship a legitimate one.

The line between co-habitation and come-we-stay unions is a thin one. Infact, to most, the two are the same. And the line between marriage and co-habitation seems to be a thin one and sometimes arbitrary too. But as things stand, a Marriage Certificate would still come in handy at times.

So, is the Civil Marriage done by those who have been co-habiting and already have kids too? I have been cohabiting with my husband and we have a kid and we've just decided to get the marriage certificate just to avoid the legal hussles of not having one. Not that i give a damn about that piece of paper- i and my husband just want to avoid the legal problems that might arise because of not having a marriage certificate. Ok, am one of those people who believe that marriage must not be sanctioned by the state or any other person.

Are there any more like you where you come from?Pray

A wedding is a woman's affair. The most you can hope for is she'll want the same thing you will... and hence starts a couple's first huddle.
