national industrial training levy

hi ive just been informed that this levy needs to be paid every month like VAT by all employers not only those in industry. anyone know abt this? i have just been lumbered with a bill for 56k with interest by them and i do not even know what they are supposed to be doing. apparently every employer is supposed to pay kshs 50/- per employee to them!

It is Kamar and the supervisor who decided on the levy.Wait for a Jubilee cabinet secretary who will come up with investor friendly policies unlike the past team.

you can get a refund if your employees attend a training by a DIT approved trainer.

This thing has been around for a looooooong time - probably started long before you were born!

Jubilee will probably increase the levy - 50bob is a small big joke. In a year, it comes to 600 bob. Yet the average corporate seminar costs about 20,000 per day thus you need over 33 years to accumulate enough for a one-day course. That's longer than most people will work the whole of their lives!

Enforcement has improved because DIT has been abolished and replaced with an independent NITA. DIT was a dept in the ministry of labour. NITA is a parastatal.
