@Kwanini: Before you blame SBT,may i point out the following;
1- All export vehicles to Kenya from Japan undergo a JEVIC inspection.The inspection is for roadworthiness and includes basic emissions testing.I doubt that a vehicle with an engine knock or slow knock will pass that aspect of testing.

JEVIC inspections keep adding new aspects for example from october 2009 they test for odometer tampering i.e. if mileage is rewound the vehicle fails the test and CANNOT BE EXPORTED.

2- DONT forget we are talking about 8 year vehicles.Some vehicles have key components that can fail without warning after 100,000kms e.g. the post 2002 Rangerover tends to suffer air suspension and gearbox failure on high mileage units.Most of the units being flashed around Nbi. wont be around in 2 years.If you bought a high mileage 100,00 km plus unit(as most dealers do to save money)........

3-USED and NEW vehicle units that aren't packed in shipping containers are driven onto Ships for loading and driven off at the destination port.At mombasa if you take your unit to a CFS then its driven from the ship to a holding yard at the port then to the CFS outside the port.
Port records can help you determine if the vehicle was driven off the arriving vessel or towed out i.e. did it arrive damaged or did the damage occur here.

4- i'm really doubting if you have been in the business for 5years because you would know that if your vehicle doesn't start at the port it doesn't result in a reinspection.Lots of vehicle batteries die on the marine voyages so some don't start.

5- I have dealt with SBT and they are aggressive BUT honest they don't sock you with hidden charges.Everythin is upfront.I have known SBT from 2005 when they were called SB Trading,i doubt they would deliberately sock you with a lemon

PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS like: model imported,mileage.

@kwanini i also see some holes in your story. Please tell us when you took the car to a mechanic wat was the diagnosed problem. Cause u might be screaming here and it was just a dead battery... And also how long ur car@stayed at the port... Ama if its the computer box that was stolen.. Many explanations ndugu.

@kwanini: Yeah,thats what i was talking about details.HOW come you dont have the mileage because this is CLEARLY in dicated on the JEVIC Certificate unless you iported via a local clearing agent therefore you didnt get the JEVIC Certificate.OR you have a copy and DONT know what it is.

Since the exporter is not a real car dealer,we must rely on the auction sheet and JEVIC.
Then,this thing happen one in 100 cars.
Generally speaking,if exporters hire real mechanic and have repair facility,no one can manage the sales activity by the high cost.
